Macon police officers responded to 3978 Mathis Street in reference to a fight involving a person with a knife. According to witnesses, a woman and her two juvenile cousins were walking on Mathis Street when they were confronted by two white males, Robert and Willie Bennett, who accused the juveniles of burglarizing their home earlier in the week.
An argument ensued, and Willie Bennett pulled out a large knife while chasing the juveniles and threatening to cut them. Robert Bennett also pulled out a knife and ran toward the juveniles.
When a fight broke out the juveniles threw rocks at the men in self-defense. They hit both Bennetts, who were intoxicated. Willie was transported to the hospital for treatment of a gash on his head. Both Robert and Willie were arrested.
Charges for Robert Lee Bennett: 2 counts each, Terroristic Threats and Child Cruelty. This is his first Bibb arrest. He has been released from jail.
Charges for Willie Bennett, Jr. 2 counts each, Aggravated Assault and Child Cruelty. This is his first Bibb arrest. He remains in the Bibb LEC.
